It’s that time again! Where we let you in on our latest thoughts about what’s OUT, what’s IN, and what’s going ON!
Summer clothes! It’s time to pack all those shorts, rompers and summer prints away until next year. But before you do, do your future self a favor and check all of your pieces for stains, missing buttons or frayed hems. This will ensure that they are ready come spring time.
As for packing them away, I tend to go for the under-the-bed storage containers or a rubbermaid that can be transferred to our attic. I also like to layer a few dryer sheets in with the clothes to keep them smelling fresh! Here area few of my favorite clothing storage solutions:
Split side errythang! If you have walked through any store lately, you’ll undoubtedly have noticed that the majority of shirts and dresses are sporting the “split side”. And I must say, I am a huge fan of this trend.
Now you might be asking, what do I wear these shirts and sweater with?
- skinny jeans
- bell bottoms
- leather leggings or pants
- fitted dress pants
- pencil skirt
- over a collared shirt
- over a short- or long-sleeved tee
- over a fitted dress

Boring or unseemly bedding… let’s be honest, we’ve all been in that motel room where the bedding reminds you of something from your grandma’s rag collection and feels like you’re sleeping in a pile of steel wool. Fancy silk sheets and a down filled duvet are not necessities, but sprucing up bedding can make a world of difference in any bedroom.
And for being someone who LOVES decor and everything textile related, I have had the hardest time finding the perfect bedding. Personally, I am a fan of the solid color bedding (usually white), and I want it to be billowy, romantic, and endlessly comfortable. I eventually used a wedding gift card and found a perfect plush duvet cover at Pottery Barn.
Here are some other bedding options that are guaranteed to spruce up any bedroom and make you want to spend endless hours of Netflix and wine… fashionably.
Anthropologie – Toulouse Duvet
Pottery Barn – Linen w/ Silk Trim Duvet
All Modern – Leave Quilt Collection
Restoration Hardware – Belgian Linen Vintage Hemstitch Duvet
HBC Collection – Multi Stripe Flannel Bedding
Bedding is also a great way to switch up the look of a bedroom, without making a major commitment to change.
Widfox – “Wake Me at Sunrise” Pajama Set
Anthropologie – Eberjey Foxy Cami
J.Crew – Nightshirt in End-on-End Cotton
BHLDN – Horticulture Robe
Joe Fresh – Lace Sateen Sleep
Pretty Plum Sugar – Shortie Set
Restoration Hardware – Cashmere Robes
These are also great gifts for bridesmaids, girlfriends, or for yourself (fyi Christmas is only 11 weeks away).
What’s going ON
Well after the weekend we had, pretty much all the pretty Fall leaves have fallen. However, there are still some fun fall activities that include the outdoors before the snow flies.
If you haven’t done it already this summer, go check out the Edmonton Corn Maze! It is closing up October 18, so you still have time to check out the fun “John Deere” themed corn maze and all the fun activities.
- When: Tuesday – Thursday: 1pm-8pm, Friday: Noon-9pm, Saturday: 10am-9pm, Sunday: 1pm-5pm
- Where: 26171 Garden Valley Rd., Spruce Grove
- Admission: General $11, Kids $9
Also, the only place that seems to not have been windblown last weekend is Edmonton’s River Valley. There are still some trees full of colorful leaves with beautiful trails for miles. Check it out before it gets too cold and snowy; I promise it’s worth it!
