Ladies on the Green

Today we are honored to highlight an amazing event that will be taking place on Thursday, August 6, 2015 a short drive into Edmonton’s downtown at the Victoria Golf Course. It is the 2nd annual Ladies on the Green Golf Classic to support the Zebra Child Protection Centre.

What it’s about…

This event is strictly for the ladies, and not just the golfing ladies. Whether you are a scratch golfer or an absolute amateur, this tournament is set up the fairway; you have the option of registering for 9-holes, OR a group lesson. So, if you’ve ever wanted to learn or par-ticipate in a golf tournament, this is the time!

Not only does this event support an amazing cause, but the day will be filled with food, drinks, fashionable prizes (like, seriously fashionable prizes), and it’s a great networking opportunity for women in the Edmonton community. You might need a designated driver because there will be giveaways and indulgences at every hole, not to mention gift bags filled with products and gift cards, and followed by a champagne reception.

The details:

  • 1:00 – Golfers registration
  • 1:30 – Orientation & golf etiquette lesson from a pro
  • 2:00 – Tee time for 9-holes
  • 3:00 – Group lesson registration
  • 3:30 – Group lesson begins
  • 5:00 – Champagne reception
  • 5:30 – Al Fresco dining & silent auction

Registration for 9-holes is $250, OR the group lesson is $100. Spots are filling up fast, so putt your name down and start swinging! Let’s prove to everyone, women can drive!

What to wear…

Seeing as this event is geared more towards indulgence than the actual competitive game of golf, we have put together a few looks to help you look fierce both on the green and in the clubhouse. I for one am beyond thrilled to see that the world of golf has begun to embrace some more fashion forward activewear such as the midi-dress and bucket hats. If there was ever a time to try out these latest trends, it is now. No need for golf socks with a hole in one!FullSizeRender-2

Golfers would be wearing wrinkled clothes if it weren’t four irons!

As for that champagne reception, I fore one wouldn’t want to be sipping bubbly in my activewear. Thus, I have come up with a few looks that will keep your post golf game on fleek and prove that while you may not be much for birdies, you have game where it counts (in my opinion)!IMG_0311 IMG_0313 IMG_0315

Remember that each golf club and clubhouse have different dress codes. Make sure to check with the event coordinator for guidelines on what’s appropriate.

Golf tips…

I am no pro, I promise you that. However, my husband is a very good golfer and is surprisingly patient with me when I ask a million questions and beg him to teach me. So fore, here is what I’ve learned…

  1. Keep your head down
  2. Golf is the most frustrating game in the world, but yet so fun!
  3. I am convinced the it’s 100% luck
  4. It’s all about looking good, not playing good
  5. Bring as many balls as you can, you’re guaranteed to lose them all
  6. Turn your phone off
  7. Don’t give unsolicited advice
  8. Always watch the ball, or watch for balls
  9. Wear a sports bra, event the smallest of boobs get in the way

I hope my golf puns didn’t stroke anyone the wrong way, I’d hate to put a wedge between us.
